Did you know May is National Bike Month? Sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast, this National month was established back in 1956 and encourages people to give biking a try.

Whether you like to ride your bike for exercise, use your bike to get to work, or ride to explore your community, pedaling those two wheels offers many benefits that you may not even realize!

Here are just some reasons why YOU should get out there and ride your bike TODAY!

  1. You save money commuting- You save on gas, bus fares, taxis, etc.!

  2. It’s really good for your heart- Did you know 20 miles a week on a bike can reduce your risk of coronary heart disease by 50%?

  1. It boosts your immune system- Moderate exercise like bike riding can help ward off colds and minor infections.

  2. It increases your Vitamin D-  Riding your bike outdoors boosts your overall mood and ups your levels of Vitamin D, which is an essential vitamin in order to help absorb calcium and promote bone growth.

  3. It allows you to really see your community- Taking on those trails and staying off the main roads allows for you to explore your local surroundings and become one with nature.

  1. It’s low impact- Bad knees and ankles? Biking helps reduce the impact on your joints while leaving your muscles to do all of the work instead of harming the more “structural bits” of your body.

  2. You help the planet- Cycling to work or your local coffee shop helps reduce greenhouse emissions and reduce pollutants in the air that affect the earth’s overall climate.

  3. You get to buy cute workout gear- Headbands, shorts and helmets galore! Working out is even more fun when you look cute while doing it. Our Brand Rep Katie always looks cute while cycling and repping our Black Quatrefoil headband! Follow her on Instagram here.

  2. You’ll start to see real progress- It’s a great feeling when you can go farther and faster than you’ve ever imagined.  Keeping up the hard work over a period of time allows for you to see results, and keep working that much harder to achieve your goals!
